Kooomo approached me with an idea - they wanted a Product Tour video that could help them showcase who they are, what they do, and how they can help businesses. They wanted an animated video from start to finish and all illustrations and animations had to be original — made specifically for them. They wanted the video to be unique so that it might distinguish their service and company.
The timeframe was less than 8 weeks...
I adapt the design thinking process into my workflow. Understanding, research, ideation, design/creation, delivery.
This is how I approached this project as well.
In the understanding phase, I realized we needed to create a timeline with check-ins each time I had something tangible to show the client. This helped ensure the project is ready on time and that we are on the same page every step of the way.
In the research phase, I gathered visual references, distinguished some of the elements I wanted to create. I did some rough sketches and gathered some notes and ideas to help myself later on. In this stage, I divided the script into sections - scenes, that I could then use for the creation of the storyboard.
In the ideation phase, I drew the storyboard and looked for voice-over actors. When the storyboard was ready, and I had several proposals for voice-over actors, we had our first check-in with the client.
Storyboard:
In the Design/Creation phase, after the storyboard was approved and the voice-over actress I recommended was chosen, I continued with the creation of all illustrations and visual elements. A kind of high-fidelity prototype, including colors, gradients, illustrations, and compositions. We had a second check-in with the client to ensure that everything was good to go and ready for animation.
Some Illustrations:
Creating all visual elements and style, drawing the storyboard, creating & coloring all illustrations, providing the voice-over and editing it, editing & mixing the music, and animating the designed illustrations are the methods used for creating the final video.
Our last check-in was when I delivered the 1st draft. Afterward, we've revised a few elements and the final video was ready and live.
Here it is, hope you'll like it :)
